On 27th December 2012 we
concluded our first ever tour that carried domestic tourists to 10 fantastic
destinations within Tanzania. It was a wonderful 14 days trip covering
wildlife, culture, history and archaeology.
I hope that this is the
beginning for Tanzanians to adventure for culture, history, nature and love of
their nation. We will make it affordable but in the end only Tanzanians can
decide whether it is worthy spending money for a holiday like this.
Big up for those 15 people who travelled with us. We now look forward to the year 2013 whereby there will be more trips (day tours, weekend tours and long distance adventures)
Big up for those 15 people who travelled with us. We now look forward to the year 2013 whereby there will be more trips (day tours, weekend tours and long distance adventures)
Here are the highlights of what
happened within those 14 days
1) We slept
at the beach by the Indian Ocean at Saadani National Park (the only national
park bordering a sea) and we went to the beach at night and did a game drive at
saadani,
(2) We went
on a sunset cruise on River Pangani and saw the historical pangani town. As we
entred the Indian Ocean from the Pangani River coming back from cruising River
Pangani our tourists started jumping into the sea and swimming to the shores
(3) We slept
at meserani Snake Park in Monduli and met other 6 overland trucks and at night
we... all went to the same bar for a drink. At the campsite it almost looked
like a carnival. The bar must have included so many nationalities on that night
as each truck carried about 20 tourists
(4) We camped
at Tarangire where there were so many elephants about 10 metres from our tents
(5) It is
always said that a Giraffe never lie down and that sleeps while standing. We
came across a Giraffe lying down in Lake Manyara National Park and stood up
when we got there
(6) We saw a
lion in action in Ngorongoro Crater- The lioness was lying in ambush and then
run so fast to attack a buffalo
(7) In
Serengeti National Park we meet cheetah walking about and saw a cheetah on a
tree
(8) We
celebrated Christmas at the middle of Serengeti with other three trucks from
South Africa and another with people from as far as Australia
(9) We
visited Butiama-the home of the founding president of Tanzania, Mwalimu
Nyerere. We were welcomed and were given a tour by his son Madaraka Nyerere who
later prepared lunch for us and we ate lunch at the Mwalimu Nyerere's family
table. We used a table that every president in Tanzania, mandela, Museveni and
you name them has sat on. Then we asked Madaraka what it feels to be him and
this questions and answers took 3 hours while sitting on this historical table
in this historical place
(10) We had a fantastic night of traditional
dances in Musoma town.
