Mount Meru Hotel: Gem unveiled with pomp and ceremony

Dusted, buffed, and polished to let its inner beauty shine through, the jewel in Tanzania’s crown, the Mount Meru Hotel, is being unveiled at a glamorous Presidential launch function on 17 December 2010.

After months of dreaming, careful planning and hard work, the Mount Meru Hotel is now open to be enjoyed by both locals and foreigners. The final touches are being put on to prepare for the President of Tanzania to officially open the Hotel, a perfect end to a ground breaking year for the African continent.

In its heyday, the hotel frequently played host to the world’s elite, and before going into decline in the late 1970’s, the president of Tanzania’s birthday was always celebrated at the hotel without fail. Now, at the dawn of a new age of opulence and glamour, the new and improved Mount Meru Hotel is set to once again take its place as the mainstay of luxury. It is a shining example of how the effort and enthusiasm of people working together towards the same goal can revive the bright spirit of an almost forgotten citadel close to the majestic mountain.

To reveal everything that is brilliant and illustrious about the newly glistening hotel, the opening will entail a cocktail in the public areas of the hotel with songstress Mama Charlotte providing entertainment, followed by a glorious 5 course gala dinner in the Meru Restaurant prepared by master chef Ruben Moothoosamy.

Dignitaries from all over have been invited to attend this sparkling event, none more famous or loved by locals than the honourable Dr Jakaya Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania. Accompanied by an entourage of guests and VIP’s, the President will join the whole of the country in celebrating the Presidential launch of this radiant jewel in Tanzania’s tourism crown.

Thus far, the Mount Meru Hotel’s glossy new look has received rave reviews from clients and guests after hosting its first conference, group dinner and live band performance. The future looks bright for this leisure bastion and with a brand new look, committed and passionate staff, and an inspired management team, this jewel is truly rare – brilliant, clear and flawless.
